Physics Laboratory Bench
Measurements in the physics lab range from analysing signals and waveforms generated from other equipment including period, voltage and pulse length to more complex measurements like reflections in transmission lines and impedance matching. This knowledge gained in years one & two progress to understanding phase shifts in signals or time delays or how an experiment output varies with time, for example, how the heat pulse from a light flash decays as it travels through a material. The oscilloscopes in this teaching lab might include long record length to capture long time windows or automated measurements to capture these signals more easily.
Power supplies in the physics lab need to be low noise with linear regulation ensuring the level of power applied to the experiment is accurate and repeatable while isolated channels can be turned on and off independently from each other in essence providing multiple power supplies in a single instrument.
