How do you choose a new oscilloscope? With so many different models available from a wealth of manufacturers it can be hard to know which scope is the right one for you.


Sometimes it can help to see what’s trending right now and what others are looking at. With this in mind, we’ve analysed our website stats to give you the top ten most searched for scopes for the past twelve months.

We’ve focused these stats on searches for new instruments, so you won’t see well-known names such as Anritsu, Keysight and Tektronix appearing in the list as these only feature in our used equipment section. We’ll look at those in a future blog.

10. Rohde & Schwarz RTO2034 Digital Oscilloscope

Kicking off our top ten is the RTO2034 from Rohde & Schwarz. The RTO2000 series is a popular choice amongst our visitors and will be appearing again more than once in this list. This 2 channel 100 MHz model features a high-resolution capacitive touchscreen with gesture support.

9. Rohde & Schwarz RTE1054 Digital Oscilloscope

Like the RTO Series, RTE is another sought-after family of R&S scopes. These instruments cover a bandwidth of 200 MHz to 2 GHz with the 4 channel RTE1054 placing itself in the middle of this series with a frequency of 500 MHz.

8. Rigol DS1102E Digital Oscilloscope

6. Rohde & Schwarz RTO2014 Digital Oscilloscope

The RTO2014 is a compact 1 GHz 4 channel scope. The RTO series features excellent signal fidelity, high acquisition rate and the world’s first real-time digital trigger system.

Down to the wire now and the third most searched for new oscilloscope this year is the RTO2024 from Rohde & Schwarz (4 channels, 2 GHz). All scopes in the RTO series come with a three-year guarantee.

2. Rohde & Schwarz RTO2044 Digital Oscilloscope

Second on the list is - yes, you’ve guessed it – another member of the RTO series, the RTO2044 (4 channel, 4 GHz). Offering over 90 different measurement functions, it’s no surprise that these scopes have dominated our top ten.

1. Rigol DS1052E Digital Oscilloscope

Once again the ever-popular Rigol DS1052E tops our list of most searched for oscilloscopes.
With features including 1 million points of deep memory, FFTs, record and replay, roll mode, alternate trigger mode, adjustable trigger sensitivity, and PictBridge printing the DS1000E is the new bench standard.
