Fibre Installation Tools & Accessories

Providing you with the tools to ensure performance, compatibility and compliance of fibre installation.

Fibre Cleavers

A cleaver is a mechanical precision device whose task is to cleave the end of an optical fibre so that the cleavage surface was as flat as possible and if possible at 90° angle to the fibre itself.

Fusion Splicers

Fusion splicing is the act of joining two optical fibers end-to-end. The goal is to fuse the two fibers together in such a way that light passing through the fibers is not scattered or reflected back by the splice, and so that the splice and the region surrounding it are almost as strong as the intact fiber.

An optical time-domain reflectometer is an optoelectronic instrument used to characterise an optical fiber. An OTDR is the optical equivalent of an electronic time domain reflectometer.

Optical Attenuators

An optical attenuator, or fibre optic attenuator, is a device used to reduce the power level of an optical signal, either in free space or in an optical fiber. The basic types of optical attenuators are fixed, step-wise variable, and continuously variable.

Optical Light Sources

A fibre light source is used to inject light into a fibre optic cable for the purpose of testing it. They come in two basic varieties: light emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes. They’re further differentiated by the wavelength they produce and the type of cable they test.

Optical Power Meters

Fast, cost-effective and easy-to-use power meters for installation and maintenance of single mode and multimode fiber optic networks and advanced, photonic-layer power meters for lab and production environments.

Visual Fault Locators

A visual fault identifier or visual fault locator (VFI / VFL) is a visible red laser designed to inject visible light energy into a fiber. Sharp bends, breaks, faulty connectors and other faults will “leak” red light allowing technicians to visually spot the defects.
